Good morning gentlemen,

Anyone out there has a plan for the GA Peacemaker, or know where I could buy one. My 30 year old model finally bit the dust.
Has anyone any experience with the built up fuselage version, would you recommend it?

Regards,

Frank

Hello Frank, which Peacemaker would you be talking about? There was a profile version that was never kitted, that sorta looked like a Flite Streak. There was also the Top Flite kitted version that had the "Superform" fuselage skins (molded). I also remember seeing a magazine article on the Peacemaker before Top Flite kitted it that had sheeted fuselage sides.
I have the Top Flite kit and would be happy to have the plans coppied for you. I think this would be a dandy plane for one of my homeless F.P .20's

Here's a scan of the plan from Tony Elmores site, taken from the Aeromodeler:

http://www.the.elmores.btinternet.co.uk/articles/cwdata/peacemaker2.html

Tony has an extensive listing of plans available at various sites on the internet:

http://www.the.elmores.btinternet.co.uk/plansites.htm

And in fact, our good host Leonard Neumann lists it as one of his plans available for sale (listed under "Classic Stunt"):

http://www.clstunt.com/plans.htm

So you should have no trouble coming up with a copy. The easiest approach would be to order it from Leonard. He sells the Aeromodeler version, and it lists for $10.

Have Fun, and Good Luck!

The plans are available from Barry Baxter:

Go to Stunt page two and scroll down. Nice looking plane.

Boy, I'm getting an education in a hurry. This is a *completely different* version, full fuselage and stunt oriented. The '58 Aeromodeler version is a profile and quite similar to the Flite Streak, although quite distinctive, and one I'd love to have.

Clearly "Peacemaker" means different things to different people...

Larry, Thank you for the offer to photocopy, don't want to trouble you. The Peacemaker I have been flying (sob) was the English profile version which I built over 30 years ago from a plans picture in the aeromuddeler (sp intended). Fancy constructing the built up fuselage version (which I presume was the original design by GA). The plan is available from Barry Baxter. Have an Oliver Tiger Major which would probably fit very nicely.
Once again thank you for your kind offer.

Frank

Frank,

my work is with one big mumma of a scaner/printer so I get copies for nothing.

I live in New Zealand so sending money is no good to me and I dont mind sending plans out ( that I have ) to people.

Like I mentioned above, I am happy to send them to you for free if you provide me with your address and dont mind me folding them.

Wynn

wynn,
I would like a set of plans for the full fusalage version if possible. That was the first c/l I built about 30 years ago and would like to try it again. My address is 4541 Bloomington Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55407. I would also be happy to pay postage and copy charges. Thanks, jim jorgensen

I really liked my Peacemaker. I used the plans from Tom Morris' plans book and enlarged them.

I shorteded the nose a bit and used an OS .15 FP. It flies quite well at a ready-to-fly weight of 17 Oz.

I'm starting my first today - it's actually a Hallam Peacekeeper kit - I intend an Enya 19 for it!

You mean like maybe no holes in the ribs for the leadout wires? Should make a cool free flight job!

Tony

Aviation Modeller International lists the full-fuse version in its plan book.

Any idea when they featured the model? I certainly missed it and I have a few of the earliest issues.

Just make sure you get the magazine plans, not the kit plans. The kit used a formed fuselage where the original was built-up.
Also, if/when I build another I think I will use a standard doubler around the engine vs the multi-part doubler that GMA used.
If it will help, I will scan the MAN 4/1960 article on the Peacemaker for you.

I used to fly BluePants in combat until the profile Peacemaker was published in Aeromodeller. P/maker proved faster and just as manoeuvrable. The ultimate development was to leave the spars at full 36", giving span of 40", move the tank into the wing, and use a minimal built-up box fus. with the engine (Miles 3.5cc diesel) moved back as close to the L.E. as possible. Weight with the 6.5oz. motor was 13oz. If you want to know what a P/maker is really capable of, build one!

In 1958 I was in the army undergoing training at Ft. Chaffee AR, just ouside Ft. Smith. The first time I got a pass I went to visit George Aldrich, who had, as it happened, just quit Fox and was leaving the next day. He showed me the Peacemaker plans to be published in Aeromodeller. A couple of years ago, at one of the GMA estate auctins at the VSC, I bought a box of Flitestreak parts because George's templates for the Aeromodeller Peacemaker were in there. These have been sent to John Brodak and I expect to see a Brodak Peacemaker kit someday.

I think my engine (OS .15), muffler, landing gear, tank, prop, covering, and tip weight added up to 12 Oz. I wouldn't know how
to build the airframe in 1 Oz.

Rex

PS : The advantage of CL is that you don't have to walk more than
60' to pick up the pieces.

Have just finished my version of the Peacemaker ("sorta like a flitestreak"), started this model in England some forty years ago but I think the paint is dry now. The model is built from an APS plan and I have managed to bring it in at the prescribed 20oz however my trusty Enya 19 ain't no Oliver Tiger. I have enlarged this plan by 10% and 15% and will endeavour to build versions for 29 and 35 size engines. My experience many years ago with this model using Elfin 249's was most enjoyable and I am hoping I am as good now as I thought I was then. Could never understand why this version of Aldrich's classic was never kitted in the UK.

Regarding my first post,

Has anyone built and flown the built up fuselage version of the Peacemaker.
If so please could you supply me info about engine size performance etc.

I just started building the kit version. I cant help thinking that an FP .20 would be a perfect motor for this. (And no, Dirty Dan is not holding a gun to my head.)I also recall my father flying one with a Webra .15 diesel in the early seventies. Dad said it was'nt the best flying plane around, but it sure is cute. I must agree. Hopefully with trim techniques we know today, Im quite sure mine will fly better.

It originally used an Oliver Tiger .15 and GMA stated in the article that it will handle up to a .29 glow.

George

Edit: Remember that is a 1960 .29 glow.
