OTS Pattern

Hello to all,
Trying to learn the OTS Pattern and I'm looking for some guidelines on how to enter each maneuver, number of laps, etc... Is there anything available like whats is on the PAMPA website for the modern pattern??? Thanks for any help.

Hi George,
After 40 years of flying, I entered OTS at one of my local contests. It is a blast!
As to a "guide" for the OTS pattern, there is one "somewhere out there". I actually had a hard copy of the GSCB manuever descriptions at one time, but heaven only knows where it is now.
I basically watched the other guys (Tommy Luper an ex NATS OTS champ is a local) fly until I had it memorized.

Edit: 2 laps between manuevers, enter the wingover just like modern, outsides can be entered from upright or inverted, inverted comes at a DIFFERENT TIME in OTS than in the modern pattern!, the "overhead eights are entered at the 45* (60*??) point ("bottom" of the first 1/2 inside loop) and exited there, All eights are of the "lazy 8" type, do the manuevers down wind.

Bill, I have been trying to contact you several times now. Are you getting the E-Mail letters I have been sending you?? Concerns the Decals for the cosmic wind, Buster, and Shoestring.

The Brodak website I think has the OTS pattern diagrams that you can download. While at it, you should ge their catalog. I costs a couple bucks but worth the money.

I briefly visited the Brodak site and clicked on Old Time Stunt. The pattern shown is the modern pattern, not the OTS battern. I think there is a Spanish site which has the maneuvers pictured. I will be glad to supply hard copy of the PAMPA rules and the 1951-52 AMA Pattern flown in OTS to anyone who wants to post them on a website. Please, someone, anyone.

The first site in Tom's post correctly shows the OTS pattern from the 52 rulebook.

The second site DOES NOT correctly show the OTS pattern as it is supposed to be flown as described in the maneuver descriptions from the 52 rule book. For example, following the 5 consecutive inside loops, the model is to recover in upright position, not inverted as shown on the diagram. The overhead eights are not entered as shown. The maneuver sizes are not properly depicted. Then, the maneuver descriptions specify some shapes that are somewhat different than even the rulebook maneuver diagrams. In PAMPA OTS, the maneuver descriptions have precedence over the diagrams.

In short, it would help if someone would take up Jim Thomerson's offer where he will provide the diagrams and manever descriptions from the 52 rulebook if someone will post them.
