I just thought I would offer a postive spin on the whole event and share a little story.

During an official W/C flight it was unfortunate that the Singapore Junior crashed his model during the loops. The wind was very rough and it was bad luck.

I was standing by the circle at the time and the look on this young boys face was sad indeed, he was clearly distressed, and on day one to make matters worse.

Now ive heard storys about Windy liking a challenge of rebuilding his models but he flexed his repair muscle in a most amazing way.

IMMEDIATLY after the crash windy rushed over and bellowed in his obvious accent "Now make sure u pick up all those peices If we have all of em we can rebuild it"
Windy and a team of his merry men, took this wreckage and worked for a solid 2 - 3 hours repairing the Fuselage ,re - align the wing to the fuselage, supplied all glue, parts, labour ,spinner prop without asking for a cent. When it was all back together Windy says "##### this thing is straighter that my own planes" Which made the junior smile.

When it was all back together and they finally fired the motor there was a HUGE CHEER from the crowd, and Ill never forget the look on the juniors face, he was smiling as if someone told him, he won a million dollars. The whole singapore team were in debt and very thankful, but its THIS SPIRIT that makes our hobby worth while.
How many other events would this occur?

Im sure there are other stories of windy helping a fellow modeler out, but if you saw how happy this junior was you would agree its the most rewarding thing Ive personally ever seen.

Wow, I personally want to thank Windy.

In March I had the honour of doing a stunt clinic in Singapore to teach the juniors about stunt, theoretically and doing practise. For personal reasons I couldn't participate this year at the WC in Muncie and thus couldn't coach this junior. When I saw in the oficial results that obviously he crashed I felt so sorry for him because he was one of the most motivated youngsters I trained in March. Seeing that fellow modelers react in such a way like Windy and his friends did makes me really happy. Why, well I really think that with this experience he will continue this hobby, and one day give back to others what was given to him.

I have no personal gain or hidden adgenda here, but whilst some of us are aguing about PA vs ROJETT there are guys out there really who struggle with our sport, Singapore include.
To see this help is what will continue our hobby, not arguing about air density and who went up in nitro.

The singapore Junior didnt care what engine he ran he was just thrilled to compete, please dont lose sight of this.

Windy a 4 - 5 time concours winner didnt lose sight of helping someone else, Noone else should either.
Thats how we all get better, think about it.

Ive heard a few people knock windy for being to "loud" but when push comes to Shove, he delivers with generosity.

Will he sell more Pro stunt Video's? Who knows.. Noone would dare say he gave up 3 hrs on a HOT day to help an Unknown just to sell a few video's.

Maybe we can all take this on board, and help those less experienced.

Hi Art,

So glad to see you here. I hope all is still well with you, and the wonderful lady that is your soul mate. I was almost in tears when I spoke with her last year at Huntersville as she shared some of the stories, and thoughts, about y'all's life as a modeling family.

I thank you for the lifetime of love you have given to this hobby!

Classic Windy, Thanks for sharing the story. I know of several stories about Windy a
dscounted most of them to some form of discontent for ths mans talant and contributions to the hobby

This is what we need to hear more off.Not fighting over who has the best way or the best product ect.This is what the hobby is about and what great people are about.Congratulations WINDY !!!!!!!!!!!

This is not surprising to me at all.

One of the main reasons I have continued to hang with this particular group is their general attitude about helping each other. Windy does it, Ted does it, Brett does it, The Daniel does it, Lou Wolgast does it, Bill Caulkins does it, De Hill does it, Randy Powell does it, Mark Bowen does it... well, I could go on and on.

I've met many of my very best friends as a result of this hobby, even though quite of few of them I haven't met in person! But guess what? Many have HELPED me. And I've HELPED some of them.

Purpose to life, indeed. Willingness to help each other, that's the common thread.
