Since it's a Big Jim ST 46, it is awesome. Like Bill Werwage often states, There is no substitute for power. I love the way it comes on when you point the nose up and it shuts down when the nose is coming down. Ah! shades of the good old days.
I've enjoyed flying this F86-D Sabre more than anything else I have flown since I've been back in the hobby in 1991.
When I came back in 91 I put an OS Max FP 40 in the original United and that was a vast improvement over the original Fox and later an OS Max 35S.
I feel like my old self again with this new Sabre. Up to and including my flights at the NATS qualifying flights, I've got 48 flights on the ship. I feel real comfortable with it. It's like an old friend at the end of the lines.
Wish it was 148 flights, but hey, that will come with time.
Since I've been home I've only been out flyiny once with the RO-Jett Powered United IV to get a comparison. I definitely like the smaller ship better. I will do more work with the United IV in the near future. Looking forward to trying Gerry Phelps new Werwage designed props. There is something to be said for no grease/castor all over the plane when using the pipe.
My snew project is another United, this will be the "V". It will have a "Big Jim ST 60" in it and Big Jims PM aerodynamics.
