Here are some pics of the Sweeper That Dad is building. The Sweeper wing is next to a SV22 wing in one of the pictures below. The wing weighs 15 oz. without the tips. We hope to have it ready to deliver in a few months. I think that the span is going to be a little over 80 in. when it is done.

derek where can i get a set of plans for the sweeper dixon said he didnt have any when i saw him at brodak and the planes i ordered from flying models show it with a foam wing i would like the plans with the built up wing thanks for the pics post more pics please

I believe that one of the Sweepers was a FLYING MODELS piece? They will list plans.

I got the Sweeper plans from Windy.The version I'm doing wasn't in Flying Models.It was in a magazine in 1969,but I can't think of the name of it right now.Jose Modesto has a copy,so he could tell you where it was.

Wait 'til the next picture,I've added the tips and flaps,so it's really big now!78" total wingspan,the root chord is 14" and the flaps are 3 3/4" wide at the fuselage.I figure it's around 1100 sq.in.

I ws told Bill Werwage is on record as giving a general rule "Don't build a model bigger than you are. Sooner or later it will whup ya!".

On the #7 Windy video from Brodak's 2004 You can see me and Kent Tysor fly the Original Sweeper. My flight was a good speed and the Plane flew great. On Kent's flight we upped the nitro and he had the ride of his life!

Hey, go for it Derek. I do own a Moki M6, 25cc (1.5 c.i.!) engine, classic loop scavenged layout. For many years I dreamed of building a 2x size Fierce Arrow for it, i.e. 100" span, wide as a barn door. An intention was to visit David Baker, (Founder of SAM 1066 over here), ring his doorbell, and stand behind the model so all he would see would be this huge model(C/L model!!) with a hand on each edge! Dave is NOT a C/L fan, but he does have a sense of humour.
Perhaps it's just as well I never did it. Sorry I seem to have drifted from the original thread.
