OS .46 LA vs. ST .46

I am scratch building a FW 190 semi scale stunt model and the plans call for a ST .46. How will an OS .46 LA do on this airplane? I think a good .40 would fly it except for the dia. of the cowl. Looks like I need a 12" prop.

What size is the plane, wingspan, rib thickness etc. I tried a OS 46 on my profile stunt ship that normally sports a ST 46 and it flew just fine. I like them both. The prop that worked the best on one motor does not work on the other and visa versa. The RPM sweet spot is different on the two motors. But set up correctly they will both do the job.

After trying a number of different prop MFGs & sizes I've found the Bolly 12x4 CF to be the best prop for my LA .46s. Launch a little over 10,000 rpm.

L L: It would be hard to go wrong with the OS LA 46. It is a great running motor, and it is a great deal.

We have run several of these down here in Dallas, and had good luck with all of them. We use the APC 12.25 x 3.75 CL prop (usually available at your LHS, as it is very popular with the RC Fun Flyers) cut down to 11.75". We also have tried just about every muffler imaginable and have had our best result with a tube muffler such as Randy Smith or Richard Oliver sells. We use a Sllivan RST 6 oz. tank with pressure. Run the motor just short of a steady 2-cycle and it will perform exactly the same every time. Hours and hours of troublefree and hasslefree use.
