ruduction in kit mfg.

Due to time, personal situation and many things to do, I have had to reduce my kit making to about half of what was being made. Much of this is also due to lack of sales of these kits. As of today, I will only be making the Veco type kits and the 33" warbird series until I can get caught up with all that needs attention. Please see my website for more kit information and what is not there anymore. I have had to discontinue several of the coming projects that were planned for this year and into the next. To those who were waiting, I am truly sorry for this. I will also be selling off ALL of my kit collection. I will have a list of kits soon on the classifide forum. Many new engines will also go with the kits.

That message is really grim. Is there anything WE can do to help. Don't know the situation, but are things really that "black"?

Something does not sound right. You are scaling back production of certain kits because of lack of sales, yet there is awaiting list for other kits. What gives? Why don't you just pump all of your efforts into the "stuff" people are waiting for and beef up sales that way. Or better still, conduct a little "Guerilla Marketing" and find out wht cats are hot for? Don't want to see a stunt kit manufacturer in trouble.

Hi Milton...Larry does Veco control line kits, Perfectly, I might
add. "People" are crazy about Original Veco kits; but seem to be
unwilling to buy Larry R's "Much Better Than Original" Veco
reproductions. I don't blame You Larry for backing off kits that
modelers aren't buying. Milton, Larry's kits are Models of Model
Kits. I gotta come up to Sparks and visit with You, Larry ...soon

I can understand where this is coming from. I have owned more than one business in my life and it is not all it is cracked up to be. You do your best to make a quality product and most people will love it and beat a path to your door. The business grows and grows and one day you realize you have not had a vacation in 5 years, you don't have time for your own hobby, you have worked 16 hours a day 7 days a week for the past 3 years, so the business has to go. Sure you can make lots of money working for yourself but what good is it if you don't have time to play and have FUN. The people that work for you depend on you to be there with instructions and help every day of the week. If your a small business you can't afford not to work every day. You can hire someone to do your own job but if they slack on quality the business suffers. If you put too much effort into a product that does not sell you are spinning your wheels. At my age time is more important than the money I would rather be building and flying my airplanes. I have owned several different businesses and sold them all, I am not interested in owning another demanding business. Been there and done that. I sold a very good business in 1985, after that I went fishing for 5 years. I sometimes get a little board so I end up starting another business just to have sometimes to do. The next thing you know I realize I am working too hard and I sell the business. You would think a person could just work less if you own your own business but it is not true. The truth is if you sell a product that people want and like the business grows like a snow ball and you can not stop it. I gave my last business to my son, "I'm going flying." Now I can ask my son for money instead of him asking me. Our group is dieing off maybe control line kit sales is dieing off too. Maybe the guy needs a break and wants to go fly his own airplane instead of building kits for other people.
