I have been looking into getting a flying site in Long Beach, Ca. I think that if there was a club that would be using the site and the city could see the need for the flying site that we could talk them into giving us a place. I was thinking about an area down by the Queen Mary. I fore see a large contest there in and around the Spruce Goose Dome. I NEED PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERRESTED. HELP!!

Are you thinking a paved parking lot or grass?

This is a work in progress, I believe that there is a grass area and a large parking area; will check it out. Call Mode-L-Mania (562) 290-0223,the owner is working on this too.
Thank you Larry

Larry,
See you at the MECA meet and we will discuss? I have found that it is no illegal to fly in LB parks but I have always bowed out if there is any other activity going on. I don't want to hit anyone!
I have a fleet of demo planes and can fly demo's similar to what we do at the Compton Airport Fair. If we get a chance to demo down by the Queen Mary, we should all agree to use quiet mufflers, lest we give a bad first impression.
Happy Landings

If Don Newberger is still alive and kicking, the guy was a noted speed merchant in the '40s and '50s. My last letter from Don was about 3 years ago, but he was still flying speed in Long Beach, and also some tethered car racing. Don would know where the flying sites in the area are located.

Floyd,
Did Don do work on unlimited racing planes in the 60's too?
