Picture posting-resizing

Seeing all the posts about the 50k picture limit had me thinking about writing a graphics utility with a simple, anybody can do it, user interface to help the guys out.

Just ran across this little utility, it looks like it may just be the ticket and I don't have to write it.

50kb is sufficient for large, well detailed photos. Here are some, all being about 45kb. I use Photoshop LE (limited edition) which Kyle bought for me on Ebay for $25.

First I select a photo from my photo file. Where did I get a photo file? These are photos scanned or copied into the "My Picture" file.

Second, I crop the picture to limit the posted photo to the areas of interest.

Third, I go to "Image" and adjust the color and brightness.

Forth, also in "Image", I adjust the size of the image by first selecting the resolution to 72 pixels/inch then selecting the size of the photo to be about 650 pixels.

Fifth, go to file and select "save as" which replaces the image in your My Picture file with the reworked version. Select "yes" when it asks whether you want to replace the existing photo.

Finally, Photoshop will present a screen which allows the photo to be compressed to a smaller file size. For my large photos, I use 1-3 which is near maximum compression. I then go to My Photos to check the resulting file size. If it is too big, I go back to photoshop and compress it some more.

When posting to Stuka Stunt you browse your My Picture file for your photo to be uploaded after first resizing it to less than 50 kb. My Picture files contains many full resolution photos running 650kb to 1.3 mb and any number of photos I have already resized to less than 50kb in anticipation of using them on Stuka Stunt or have already used them on Stuka Stunt. Once you have resized the photos, you are stuck with that resolution unless you return to your original source and reload the photo at full resolution.

50kb is enough for relatively large well detailed pictures as shown below.
