VSC XIX (19) will take place in Tucson, Arizona March 14 - 17, 2007.

I will be mailing out the 2007 flyer around the first week in October 2006 which will have all the infromation you need to pre-register (enter) prior to the start of the contest. This is all I can tell you for right now. A big thank you for those of you that came an took part. Looking forward to seeing you next year.

Inspired by such entries as Tom McClain's Bellanca Flash, Rusty Brown's DH-4, Bart Klapinski's Fleet PT-6 and Jim Lee's Aeronca C-3, I will sponsor an award for the best semi-scale Old Timer at VSC-19.

In addition to the many published semi-scale Stunt designs by Musciano, Hollinger, et al., Sterling's "C" Series and a number of the old Berkeley kits come to mind. Despite their weight and small size, I've seen the SE-5, Waco, Ryan ST, Cessna 195 and others perform acceptable (if somewhat large and awkward) maneuvers.

To be considered for this award, entries must complete at least one official flight and be a recognizable rendition of a full-size aircraft. Other than the OTS rules in effect in March 2007 there are no other rules.

I will be the sole judge and jury, so if you're bringing a semi-scale (or scale) OTS entry to VSC-19, be certain I see it.

Earlier This year we had a "discussion" about the possibility of Demo racing with the B-T/R's at BVCS 2007/ The discussion ended with --" very probable MAYBE" and I understood that Keith Trostle's name was mentioned to head it up.

WE in the NW seem to be having a good response on this type of racing.

Les Akre is going to be the ED for our "Demo racing" at the NW REGIONALS coming up in 26-28 May. So far we have 6 confirmed pilots that will be there with planes to race.

So far I have had 3 people interested in buying some of the kits that I have made up for Team race.

All I am doing is (ya, adding more of a load on a very busy STUNT contest) keeping this idea of B-T/R alive and plugging it. Maybe this is where this will go--plug it more on NCLRA and quite bugging the stunt site. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I would like to add something--Les and I have been talking on line and his approach was at first to have the OS LA 25 engine only. Well there are too many of us who have the older engines and want to use them. He came back and said "don't worry Dave about the engines--we want participation"!!!

He is also asking that we bring "props" to hold the speed down to 80-90 mph. Reason being that "some" Stunt flyers said they might be interested in building nice little models and come have some fun.

The whole idea behind the lower mph was to be able to put people on that might be interested, a chance to fly these racers and to keep the "Rotational" speed down.

Yep, we'd considered the possibility of adding a demo' B-T/R gathering at VSC-19, but are now thinking it might be better suited to the "Cabin Fever" racing meet held (usually) a week after the VSC. This year there were three B-T/R entries there; perhaps that will expand next year.

The cold, hard fact is there's just no time left after official flying and the mad dash to evening social events to pursue an additional event at the VSC.

I am sorry to hear that the 25LA B T/R event won't be held at VSC. Trying to race them with current-rule planes at Cabin Fever would not be a good idea. The difference in speed would make it a very unpleasant experience for someone there just to re-live the good old days. Dealing with a potential 40+ mph delta in air speed does not make for happy pilots. Besides, I think you would attract a different set of participants at VSC (instead of the hardcore racers). I fully support a "sport" B T/R class (whether it be with 25LA's or period-correct engines) and thought VSC was the perfect place for it. I hope some re-thinking will be done. Thanks.

I think a prize for the best semi-scale Old Timer is a great idea. How about one for Classic, too?
