Leonard - Trying to post pics

I have the pic on my desktop. The one you sized for me. If I right click on it and then hit open the pic will open. I also copied it to a 3 1/2 floppy and it will do the same. When I do a "browse" I go through several pages to get to the jpg. When I click on it nothing happens. I then back out of the pages to the page where it says to upload. There is nothing in the block next to the browse button. When I upload it says it is loaded but there is nothing there because when I preview the error empty message comes up. I don't have a firewall and I changed it to accept all cookies. Still no go. Any ideas

Bill, I am trying to sort through what you did here, but I checked the server, and there was a 0 bit file there, which happens when you try to upload a picture that was too big. I have a feeling that you pointed to the original picture that you had on your computer which was too big at 62K. The one I compressed for you was down to 23K and fits fine. You needed to either replace the one on your computer with the one I sent you, or, at least make sure you are pointing at the correct one when you upload, since they will look identical except for the space they take on the disk. Since you had transferred it to a floppy disk, you could also point to the file on the A drive to upload. That should avoid confusion.

(Click on "click here to choose your file" right below the attachment line in the message box, then the browse button on the pop up screen, then click on the pull down arrow at the top and choose your A drive. From there you can point to the picture you want and click on it. Then make sure the jpeg button is checked and click on upload.

You seem to have done everything right, but probably mistakenly clicked on the original oversized picture.

I replaced the "0" bit file on the server with your picture using the same name and it now works fine on the forum.

I placed the file you sent me for the jpg on my desktop. Then moved it to a floppy when I had no luck posting. Both places allow me to use the jpg in an email to myself of around 30 k data as I read it when it sends. I can go to the jpg and open it either place. When I try to post it I click on browse. The box opens with the down arrow. I clicked on it and the contents of my puter showed. The "A" drive was showing so I clicked on it. When I click on the A drive the canopy.jpg does not appear. It shows that a drive is empty. I can't do anything to get the jpg to show as in the a drive. I think if I could get it to display then I could go on with the download Why won't it show when I go to it when trying to post it but I can go to it and open it?

MAybe this has something to do with it - not sure - When I make an attempt to post the pic, I can do everything down to where the jpg won't show when I click on "A" If I back out to try again, the browse does not work again until I go completely out of Stuka and come in again

Also - you sent it to me in Jpg format in an email. How do I get ti to where it is useable. I can't move it from my email to my documents - How I did it was to open the jpg where you sent it to me. I then right clicked on it and used the option of saving it to my desktop. When it would dnot post from there I copied it to a floppy

You sent it to me by e-mail. I then right clicked on it and chose the option of "save as". This brought up a window in "My documents", although the default could be anywhere, depending on how you last used this. I then put it in "my pictures" and renamed it while doing so since it was given a garbled name.

Don't put the .jpg ending on it when you save it to your disk. Windows will do that for you. If you do, you may end up with something like picture.jpg.jpg and that will throw the forum. You may still be able to click on it to display it in your computer, but it will throw the forum (written in cgi) for a loop.

But I saved it on my hard disk as above, then used my compression utility to squeeze the extra space out of it, and resaved it to my disk. From there I attached it and sent it on to you. I also renamed it in the way the forum had originally named it to use on the forum and put it in the placecard that you had started. (That is not something that you can do. You need administrative rights to access the program).

My guess is you have a double jpg ending. Otherwise it should have worked.

You need to make sure they are of the appropriate size for a computer screen. No larger than 600 x 800. 640 x 480 is better.

Then compress them to below 50K in size. It shouldn't be hard to get them down to 25K.

Then when you post your message, right below the message box it will say "attachment" and below that "click here to choose your file." You need to make sure you do not have a pop-up filter active (disable it if you do). Then click on the the spot mentioned above which will bring up a pop-up window. You will need to browse your hard drive to find the file, then upload it to the server. When you do, the "attachment" line will show the renamed file and it will be ready to go when you post your message.

There seem to be more people who have problems with pictures - I mean "attachments". I've had severe problems with Internet access recently. Now I have a new Virus scanner and new firewall, and everything seems to run fine. Now I wanted to answer a thread. But when I click on "click here to choose file" nothing happens.
I cannot deactivate the firewall, since when I do this it says I'll have no Internet access.
Oh how I hate these computers!

Hi Claus. Glad to see you here. Computers and airplanes are so different, aren't they? Airplanes are so simple and...

If you get as far as "click here to choose file" and nothing happens, then the problem is at your computer--and it would appear to be your firewall. These little "contraptions" are like putting a one way valve between the muffler pressure line and the fuel tank. Anything can get in from the muffler, but nothing can come back out. If you want to upload a picture, it has got to come out.

These firewalls were designed to keep others from getting into your computer and stealing your information or messing with your files. And the firewall is saying, I am not going to let you see this picture file because I don't know what you are going to do with it." (But the forum software needs to be able to read that file.) Most firewalls have a setting where you can tell it to accept a certain website. If you can locate that (what type of firewall do you have?) you should be able to add clstunt.com to the accepted list and then it should allow you to upload the pictures from your computer to the forum.
