Posting order

When I reply to a post in the middle of a bunch of posts, my reply never follows the post to which I'm replying. It always goes to the bottom. How do I get my replies to immediately follow the post I'm replying to?

What is probably happening is that there are a number of replies already to this post with replies to theirs, etc. In that case the threads indent relative to who you are replying to. If you are replaying to someone who is in the third positon, then your response will be indented to the fourth position.

What I would suggest is that anytime there are a number of responses already to the post to which you wish to reply that you click on "reply with quote" as I did to you above. That way the actual post will be displayed above your comments or answer and it will be kept in perspective.

Thanks Leonard, but that's exactly what I was getting at. Using your example, my reply was NOT being indented in the fourth position. It is left-justified and entered way down the list in a random location, not necessarily at the bottom. Sometimes, this time it worked as I expected and as you describe.

I will use Reply with Quote" from now on.

I looked for a post of yours and could not find one on the first page (may have missed it?). We have to get you to post more often. However, if you click the little + in the left side of the dark blue bar at the top of the forum (turning it into a - ), it will change the way it displays for you. Then you will have a clearer picture of how each post fits into the scheme of things.

Or, look at the threaded list under the first post to see the same thing. Also, when you use the fully threaded view (with the - showing in the blue bar) and then click on the (view all) after the first person's post, it will show all of the posts in their proper order.

Just things to try to see the placement of posts better.
