Need a Password

I registered some time ago on this forum and my profile shows up in the user database but I never received a password.

I can't reregister because it says I have a duplicate username. Could you reset or send a password to the email address on file?

If you didn't get a password, that means your e-mail was not working. It may be that you entered it wrong. If you send me an e-mail to [email protected] I will be able to correct it, reset your password, and e-mail it to you.

Bud, I do not send e-mails. There are places where you as a member can subscribe to a certain forum or to a post. But you are the one who needs to remove these. Sometimes people subscribe to these by accident. At the top of each thread in each forum, for instance, there is a place where it says "subscribe to this topic". If you click on this, it will send an e-mail to you each time someone responds to the topic. This is a nice feature when you are on an inactive forum, or one where people ignore a lot of topics and you don't want to return until someone answers your question. Here, however, with as much activity as we have, we really don't have to worry about that. And if you subscribe to a forum, it will e-mail you every new post once a day (as, perhaps, you may have found out.) But, since I do not have your password, I would have to reset it to enter your account to delete these. It is much easier for you do to it yourself.

Assuming that you are logged in, go to the user menu at the top of the forum. At the left side you will see a section where it says "Forum subscription" and "topic subscription". Go to the first and uncheck any forum subscriptions. Go to the topic subscription and make sure all of these are blank. If so, that will stop all e-mails.

Then, if you decide not to use your account, that is fine. But if you decide you wish to check back sometime, just for "old time's sake"a, you are still free to do so.
