New kit mfg opens

My name is John Lowry and I make Control line kits. My kids say they will make me a web site I don’t have one now. So for now old dad knows how to e-mail and send pictures and post to this forum. I responded to a request for Fox 35 case others read it and wanted cases too. I live ½ mile form the Fox factory and I resale at a discount.

will i be selling sheet wood? not now.
i have all of bobs equipment but i think the wood is more valuable in kits form than just selling wood. I am a one man company hopefuly I will only have time to cut wood for kits that I mfg.

Hello John Glad to hear we have another kit maker among us.Are you able to supply older fox parts that may still be available thru the factory? I am in need of a crankshaft,prop nut,washer and thrust washer for a fox 36X engine. Best Regards Tom

Didn't get your name.

Yes this is the newest version of Tom's Forerunner the wing is foam and if you dont want to remove the foam betwen rib bays you don't have to. you can put the engine outboard if you want. The main thing is the airframe is a well proven contest winner and a blast to fly.

Ft. Smith Bear: My name is Bob J. and I am an old C/L flyer from the 50s and 60s. I picked up a Ringmaster at a hobby shop in Ft. Smith last Christmas. I enjoyed it so much that I built a Nobler. The only thing wrong is it's not as much fun flying alone. I have not been able to find any other C/L flyers in this area.

Incidentally, John is the inheritor of Bob Bearden's kit-making business (hence the "Bear"). Bob Bearden used to make Combat kits near Chicago, and sold wood and lots of other goodies. In the early 80s, when I first started flying Combat, the Midwest Combat scene was pretty much dominated by Bear's kits, most notably the Super Sidewinder and Doc Passen's Shadow.

I used to run into John at the Nats and at Toledo, when he was with Fox, and buy Missile Mist and other stuff from the Fox van.

The Doodlebug was featured in Flying Models not too long ago, in two articles. The first one was about the full sized Doodlebug, and the second article (in the February '03 issue) was the Doodlebug in three smaller sizes (for the Norvel .074, .061 and .049). Bill Netzeband said that it was originally designed to fly like the Bi-Slob, but then it turned out it makes a great CLPA plane.

Too bad I'm no longer in the States - I'd probably buy a kit or two.

Yes it is.

The prototype PRIVATEER is still flying, with a variety of engines from Thunder Tiger 36 to ST 46 and DS 50. Allen and Byron Barker designed a good one here! Great first built-up ship after profiles, easy to build, and did I say a SUPER flyer? John Lowery does a nice kit of the ship. You won't be disappointed!

RE: Privateer. Now you've got me interested. Anyone have a picture of the Privateer available to post?
