All the way back into the 1950's, OS would add more "name" to their engines, although they did skip over the "Max II" model name about 1959 or so. The minimally-named Max 35's I'm thinking of were steel-fin designs with a general resemblance to the Torp GH series, hardly different in appearance from the Max-I or Max-III.

I've owned a half dozen of the Max-S engines, all of which had the "S" right on the bypass as raised & molded-in lettering.

Check the backplate it is stamped in there, A very visible S if it is the stunt model.
