For sale; O&R 60 Purple head 1952 front rotary intake glow motor. Serial number 081116. This is definitely a glow version as the timer area on the front case has the blued steel cover pressed over the front bush where the timer would normally sit. It is not a converted sideport engine.
It is fitted with the correct prop drive and prop washer. The purple anodising has faded a little but there are no major scratches or missing fins. The cylinder sleeve black enamel is flaking with only approximately 50% cover left on the exposed edges. The exhaust stack has been cut parallel at the third fin on the stack, so you can see that it was an angled stack originally as there is about a third of the original outline left.
The venturi has the original tinplate restrictor but is fitted with a later non original NVA.
The mounting lugs are in good order, very light washer marks on the tops and just a slight amount of opening up is evident but only from the underside of the lugs.
The only other marks are to the crankcase just under the lugs where someone has filed the case and left a couple of flats that wouldn't be more than 10 or 15 thou deep but look a little ugly, you wouldn't see them once mounted, but then again it would be a better looking motor without them!
Mechanically the motor feels very very good and should make a strong runner. It has really excellent compression and a nice shaft fit.
It's not a pristine example cosmetically, but it is a very useable motor and still a rare engine.
I think it's worth close to the $150 but maybe I'm a little optomistic here and I will consider offers.
