Fox 40 stunt engine from early 70's. The engine runs very well, is clean, and has great compression. The lugs have been drilled out to accept #6 bolts. Two small peices of the cooling fins on the front of the head are broken off, I used a screwdriver that was too large on the head bolts. The original needle valve assembly is still in the engine. This motor has been in 3 planes over the years and does not have much time on it. Asking $50.00 plus $10.00 to ship.
Is this the one that looks like a 35? I'm not buying, but for what it's worth, these engines are great for Classic Fox 35 models which need a muffler today. You still got more or less an "original" looking engine, and enough power available after adding the muff. Slight weight penalty.
The engine looks like a .35 except it is larger. The lugs are about 1 1/2 times the length of those on the .35. It has a 4 bolt back plate, the spray bar has 2 holes like the .35, but the assembly is larger. The exhaust port is quite large and has no provisions for mounting a muffler. Wish I had a digital so I could post a photo. I would keep it except we have to run a muffler at the club field and it's tough to build a nice cowl around a strap on muffler.
George Aldrich was asked by Duke to convert this 40 from what was to be at first a Pylon engine. The case gives the impression of having at least one bearing at the rear of the crank.
Duke evidently felt it wasn't gonna cut it for pylon, so he asked George to modify it to a stunt engine. Very strong, great break, but on the large/heavy side. I used one wish much success in a T-Bird II years ago.
