Mail order Balsa Wood ??? what now ??

I have not bought balsa this year, decade, century, or millenium.

I used by from Royal Craft, Joe's, Henderson's, Finley's, Sig, Ace, AHC, Bearden, Flite Line, or Balsa USA.

What's the current "best deal" on balsa. I will not be able go down to Equador to select it personally.

My recent orders from Lone Star have been very good. No true 4# wood, but the all-up weight of the last box was <6#, with sheets as light as 5.1#. All nice clean straight stuff.

When I lived in SoCal I always went to Superior Balsa. Nice folks and they didn't mind when I showed up with my scale! Every now and then Sal Taibi was there and he could pick good light wood without a scale!

I ordered from several different suppliers in the past with mixed results.

My latest purchases were through Lone Star. High-quality (Light.) Balsa is sometimes in short supply, so I had to wait approximately five weeks for my rather large order to be filled.

Everything that arrived this July was absolutely perfect. The only pieces that were in the 6 pound range were the ones that I specified and the quarter grain stock that I ordered was perfect.

Everything else fell into the 5 pound range with several pieces in the mid 4lbs's.

I guess I'll keep ordering from Lone Star.
