Certain small-bore engine for sale...

I was a bit too successful in snagging mumble-mumbleFPs from eBay site. Thus have an extra.

Engine was NIB when I got it. Marine version. Has been converted to CL Stunt usage, *exactly* to what has become known as Brett Buck Tune-Up. Has not been run, although it is currently bolted to my Skyray 20.

Price: $90.00; that includes shipping via U.S.P.S. Prority Mail, notification option, and insurance.

Sticker shock? Probably, that is an "interesting" price for a small-bore engine. However, I've been watching and dealing on eBay, know the prices in a general sense, plus the cost of required CL-specific parts.

NOTE: Stupid Boat Guy had ground off the fins on top of "E-2030" muffler, presumably for clearance. His photos showed muffler upside down, concealing his handiwork. And I was too trusting to ask.

Engine fitted with my preferred old-style "remote" NVA. While I will be glad to fit it with "front-mount" NVA, if you buy it as-is the carburetor has a spare needle valve for the remote setup. Your choice.

I am selling this piece as not only do I have plenty of these engines now, but plans have been laid to begin the 2005 season with at least two Q-ships. For that purpose I do not want spiffy new engines. Instead, I will be converting a couple really nasty-looking 25FPs to, uh, a configuration giving only 85% of the displacement of a 25.

When checking your user ID the other day, I noticed that you had picked up a few of these including the marine version. I thought that you might have been trying to corner the market.

Sorry you were the one to get sucked in.

It's a trick, one I have been waiting for *months and months* to pull the trigger on. And it's not even a particularly clever trick.

The mumble-mumbleFPs are not the size everyone assumes. They are actually 21s. Actual displacement is .211 cubic inches; the 25FP is .248 cubic inches.

With the infrequent display of what might otherwise be viewed as an encyclopedic knowledge of O.S. engines, I kept waiting for this factoid to be brought to the fore. Never happened.

I have shared this information with Derek Moran and Scott Dinger, urging them to go ahead and add "Skyray 35" graphics to their new models. But to insert a period in between the "3" and the "5." 3.5cc, .21ci, same thing, and something of a head fake to talk about in the pits between rounds.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but how many engines of the unmentionable displacement do you have? What is the number an active sport flier should have on hand for all contingencies? I only have one.......................T.Durrill

This is not something I wish to admit to, but I finished 2004 season with three primo 21FPs, a spare which had begun to show signs of internal discontent. It's a bought-used engine which spent a great many hours pulling the Dirtmobile around, no problem.

Ahem, I recently purchased for 21FPs and four 25FPs on eBay. Latter slated for conversion to 21s, although I intend to take one more good shot at getting one of the 25s to run, say, 90% as well as a 21FP w/BB T-U, bolting it to my Zilch X for OTS work. If this proves successful, that model would be nothing short of deadly in OTS, and it is already nice enough to have won this event at 2003 and 2004 NW Regionals, ABC Fox 35 for power.

I don't like orphans is the problem here. Each model should have a dedicated engine bolted up to it. It just simplifies things, and as I already have four models fitted with 21FPs, plan to build two or three more this winter, there ya go.

Oh, and Tom Morris has been after me to get him outfitted with one of the engines I have spent so much time writing about, and his NIB piece was shipped just this past week.
