Hoping someone may be able to help with either a new or serviceable 2nd hand piston sleeve and wrist pin assembly for a Veco 35. I'd like to run it in my Oriental.

on the old vecos the "veco" was clearly legiable...couldnt be mistaken as "teco"....it could be a later model which im not familiar with...but the cylinder appears to be in backwards what ever it is...look at it...jim

Hi Jim,
That is a '60s Veco 35, and as you noticed, something is wrong with the assembly of the piston/sleeve.
The seller has edited his ad to state that it is a Veco now.
Pretty sure the sleeve is in backwards.

I would recommend that you send the engine to Don Blackburn. He will chrome the p/s and have it like a new one. And it will probably run longer than the original one. The cost is crazy low.
Bob Oge also does this, but I am not familiar with his work although I have heard he is excellent, also.

Dankar Having P/L redone is the way tp go. You never know what you will get from ebay. Veco parts are almost impossible to get. I have two RC .35's that I made venturis for. Both were near new and are very smooth. One shinny case the other Satin. To my joy I found that run strong as hell and very user friendly. I still have my Veco CS from hi-school in early 60's. It outlasted evrything I put it in. It still runs good today and will be put in a Sly Sir combat ship.
Did you try the oven treatment for it"? I also have a bones engine that had almost no compression. I put in a new head gasket and treated the piston to a hour in the oven and now it runs!! I even found some Veco neddle valves that fit K&B spray bars . Like Bill stated crome will make it better than new. Good luck,Dan.

Thanks for your suggestions guys, I think my Veco 35 may have been made up from parts. I bought it on the Bay some time back and while the case to shaft fit is excellent, the wear in the wrist pin hole in the piston rules out a chrome job. I think I'll change my mind on using the Veco and go with an OS Max 30 S instead. At least I can look out for a Max 35 or a B40 to swap it out with later on.
