Xacto Sannding Block

Last weekend while visiting old friends I got to use an Xacto sanding block for the first time. I would like to get one for my own use but do not see any such item in the Tower Catlog. Does anyone have an idea where I might buy one of these? Or is anyone there who might like to sell such an item? Please respond here or to my email address:[email protected] Thanks! Phil Spillman

Phil, I have one of these that came in my big Xacto special kit I got in 1953. Trust me, you are better off by taking a 2X4 and cutting a block or three to suit your needs than that darn thing. The wedge that holds in the sandpaper will always come out when you least need it to. This thing was designed by "Murphy".
By aming your own, you can custom make them for long, medium or short sandings, such as wings, flaps, etc and they will fit the area being sanded. Also the felt on the bottom will always slip, so I tossed mine years ago.

I picket up a straight 1x2 and cut it into several lengths. Use the sticky back sand paper that comes in rolls.

Hi Ty, Thanks for your note! I went to the site you mentioned and think I'll give them a try! As for the roll of sticky sanding paper, I have made my own sanding sticks as well out of the square paint stirers. Attached the paper with double sided scotch tape.
Works well and easier to replace. Simply put the tape on the stick and press it to the paper, then cut along side the sitck and you're done!
