Trade Original Bordak T-Bird for the RS

and Ty too. I know you have a lot of kits in storage!

I obtained an Brodak Original T-Bird kit at our club Christmas bash and Yankee swap. I would really like to have the inverted engine RSM '59 version. If anyone has one and would like to trade please let me know. You can use the SSW secret message board - I know how to use it now! And, of course I don't really expect anyone to reply but there's no harm in asking!

Of course the Veco version of the later T-Bird left a lot to be desired. However, I am sure that Eric Rule's version is 100% AOK!
Hi Eric! It was nice meeting up with you in LA! I hope everything is going well there? I'm really trying to get one of your later T-Bird versions!!! I just want to recreate my high point plane of 1969! But, I'm not having any success!! Boo Hoo!

HI Jim. I'm not knocking the later version, it just didn't appeal to me. Some how it didn't "look" right to me. Like comparing an F4F-3 to the F2A. The F4F-3 just loked better, but was still a froggy looking bird, but then the Buffalo was just plain fat and oogly.
The later T Bird lacked charisma compared to the upright engine version.

Ture enough. I don't think the later version really flew any better than the 1st version. I think that Bob was looking for an extra appearance point or two and a test bed for his flap and leadout ideas. The leadout ideas worked O.K. for being fixed, but I think that modern adjustables especially with the bellcrank reversed work better. Oh well, if I can't work a trade or sell this one outright, I might just build it!! My .46 LA will yank it about the sky just fine!

There are THREE different "T-Bird" kits. The first, Veco Thunderbird--upright engine, p-40 style canopy. Next the "New Thunderbird" Veco, inverted canopy, p-51 style canopy, larger wing, over/under leadouts, and differental flaps. Last, "Thunderbird II" RSM, back to the smaller wing but with different (improved?) airfoil, inverted engine, p-51 style canopy, no differential flaps. This last version was not kitted nor published but WAS designed and flown during the "Classic" era. I have all three kits and have compared them.
Personally I like the old original best.

I think that I'll just go with the original - seems like all the OTers like it better. In fact it's the one that I saw Bob fly first in Selma CA in 1958. I was a really impressed 13 year old then!

And a fourth. Australian Tony Cincotta's Saturn Models T'bird 1. Magnificent light wood, great kit. Saturn models has a web site, can't remember it off hand but a search along the lines of Saturn should find it.
