DesignCAD version 14?

I just picked up a copy of DesignCAD at the Half Price Bookstore. It looks pretty good just reading the reference manual but I haven't tried it yet: Import/export .DXF and .DWG (and some other) files, Bezier curve, cubic spline, snap, stretch, smooth by slope detection, 2D and 3D, raster to vector conversion, etc.

Have any of you tried this program for drawing parts files to send to the laser cutter folks? Or, even tried this program at all? Any comments or hints?

Does anyone know if files from Plotfoil or Compufoil can be imported?

I use DC14, after upgrading from 2D to 3000 and finally to 14. Yes you can import CompuFoil files, but for some reason, you can't change line colors on the output. I upgraded to 14 because 3K would choke if you used an image and drew over it. 14 is better in that sense, but I found converting a file to .dxf or autocad, with only 256K RAM it would take upwards of an hour to save the file. 3K would save .dxf in a few seconds.

The answer of course was more memory. I picked up a Gig for $250 and now 14 flys! I hoping to pick up an additional gig soon.

Other than that, it's a great program. I draw/redraw for several model airplane companies and for $100, it's a deal. gv

Are you importing a .dxf or .dwg to Designcad and is this process taking to long or are you exporting the files in a Autocad format?

I recently purchased a copy of CompuFoil. It's really a nice program and Eric is very helpful about answering questions and helping you get setup. There is a function for exporting the standard AutoDesk DXF file. I use an old CAD program called Draffix and have recently been trying TurboCad. I have been able to import the DXF files from CompuFoil with no problems.
