PA40 Ultra Lite

Mine's the rear exhaust version, running on an old S&W CF 40 pipe I've had for ten years. Used to use it on a 40VF. It's set at 16.5".

This engine is strong and stable. It flies my 53oz 630 sq in Vector with more authority than the piped LA46 that used to reside in the nose. The PA is also .75oz lighter than the old rig. I'm still using the 62' .014 solids I had for the 46, but will try .015 braids and .012 solids. I say the engine is stable because the break is smooth, with NO surging or speed-up in manuevers.

Prop is a 3B Eather 11.25" X 4". I have no idea what the launch RPM is, 'cuz I just use my ear. Laps are around 5.2 seconds.

This engine is worth every penny ($309) I paid for it. I only wish I had started with this engine six weeks ago when I finished this ship.

This is my second PA engine and the fifth Aero Products engine I've had the pleasure of running. (Others are PA 61, and Randy-tuned ST60, Magnum 40GP, OS 40VF)

You pay more for this stuff, but the reliability and SUPPORT you get are well worth it. For a few hundred bucks, you can have the same engine tuner as the current World Champ. That's a pretty good deal. Any idea what it would cost you to have Lance Armstrong's bicycle? Ouch!

I mounted the engine to aluminum plates, than mounted the plates to the maple beams. This way, you don't have to hack up the engine or plane to swap engines.

Unfortunately, that does not answer your question. You might email Randy Smith, he should know how different the fits would be.
