Brodak Oriental ARF

Got my Oriental ARF and was suprised to get a blue one in a red pictured box...No big deal, the plane assembled, is an attention getter. Got a few test flights in at the Dallas meet with some engine problems. Got some more testing in at the Baton Rouge meet this past Sunday, with some help from the designer...Dee Rice. (couldn't ask for better help) The ship flys straight with no quirks, right out of the box. Had some minor problems with some of the hardware and instruction sheet. Got some fast help from Windy and Brodak. I never had much respect for ARFs, but if your strapped for shop time and not flying time, this Oriental is an impressive ship. I went with a carbon fiber elevator pushrod and Dubro Kwik-Links. The control horns provided had to be bushed. 4oz. Sullivan uniflow clunk tank, OS.35 MAX S, ST .46 spray bar and needle, APC 10.5X4.5 Prop, 2" Tatone alum. spinner. Total dry weight, 44ozs. including 1oz. in the wing box, 1.5oz on the tail and Black silicone (RTV) wing fillets. "Fly it, you'll like it."

I don't know that the picture on the outside of the box changes with the color of the plane inside.

The colors of the plane inside are marked on the sleeve that surrounds the box:

R (Red) Y (Yellow) B (Blue) and BL (Black).

There were, however, a couple of "Mix and Match" variants. Maybe the packers were color blind or it was their lunch break and someone else finished packing the box.

I, personally, like the color of the black one, but it is not a good color for flying at sunset. All the rest are good, too, and it gives a bit of variety when everyone shows up with the same plane.
