Nylon Props

Somewhere I read there was interest in Indian made nylon props. Ed http://www.carlsonengineimports.com has some. I've been using them as test props and on sport planes and they seem fine. They also dye easily. Andy

Hello der, Andy...oooops, couldn't help myself! Is there any chance that you can post a picture of one of the props? I checked around at Carlson's website and couldn't find any ref to them. Looked under the Sharma rock, etc. Where would they be on the website? If they make an 8-6, it might be just the trick for D-Bat. Some guys like the Sharma 2.5 for the event better'n the PAW it is copied from. Steve

Thanks, Rishi. Unfortunately for D-Bat, glass filled nylon is not what is needed, as they break. The D-Batters want a prop that rarely breaks. These might work for other uses, tho. Interesting mix of blade designs...some look like Top Flites, some look like Tornadoes, some look like neither. Steve

Steve, The props I got were various sizes and not glass filled. I tried an 8x8, 8x6, 9x6 and 10x4 on a Mongoose/Brat .28 w/chip muffler combo. These props are tough and cheap. I dyed the tips for visibilty. Carlson does not keep up his web site. He often has useful stuff at decent prices but you need to call him. 602-863-1684. Another example are his 40mm MP JET aluminum spinners. I tried a couple in stead of Veco 1-1/2" spinners. These are very light, fit 1/4-28 studs, fit well and worth the $4 to $8 I paid. They are matt finish and polish very well. Andy

Steve and Andy, I've used the Sharma props too; I also got them
from Ed Carlson...I believe the black ones are glass filled and
the white ones are regular unfilled Nylon..they are flexible
enough..watch out for some of the Tornado looking ones though..
they are undercambered!!. Also do balance them before using..
Oh yes ...some of them are bigger in diameter than advertised;
the black 9x6's are 9.5" If memory serves.. they are good useful
props.. Tony
