Tower's new Glow Driver

I would like to do a quick review of the new Tower Glow Plug Igniter. I’ve been using this device for about a month now on several flying occasions and have not needed battery replacement. Utilizing a Duracell AA battery I am liking it the more I use it. I won’t have to worry about dead NiCad’s and recharging any more. Just throw a four pack of Duracell or the Bunny Batteries in your flight box and you are set for the summer. Not sure of the battery amperage rating but I am definitely getting a “hotter” glow from the Duracell with quicker starts than my normal NiCad igniter.

What is nice about this igniter is it’s smaller than the normal C size thus is more comfortable parking itself in your pocket... Reminds me of my Magi flashlight with precision aluminum construction.

I've had mine for a while and it's a very good driver. My only gripe is that I wish the neck was shorter by an inch or so. It is too tall for inverted engine starts. I've trided removing the neck and see if I can cut with down: no luck.

Typical Nicad is 1.2 volts. Dry cell battery is 1.5 volts. Minimum rating on the Duracell AA is 1500mah. Ni Cads vary all over. This driver wins hands down versus a 1.2volt Nicad on a standard c size glow driver.

I do believe that the majority of the plugs we use are 1.5 volt rated. This would explain the hotter and quicker engine starts

Tried mine last weekend, 30 starts and going strong - I'm amazed that a AA duracell will last that long! Thanks for the recommendation guys!

BTW - Tower were a pleasure to deal with - 10 days shipped to OZ, no complaints there.
