Sullivan Flying Wires

I recently bought a set of these in 60 feet X 15 thousands. I broke one and needed a set quick to fly on the weekend. What I got was 62 feet 10 1/2 inches. Luckily they were both close to the same length. My friend bought a set supposedly the same thing and his were around 62 feet 5 inches but one is at least 4 inches longer than the other. These were finished ends. Quality control in that respect is not the best so this alerts me to the fact that there might be other problems that will show up in the wrap. If you buy some measure them before you go to fly.

Bill. for what it's worth, this has been an on going problem with Sullivan lines for the past 20 years. Most go to Tom Morris for accurate to the 1/16 on an inch flying lines.

I really think that most active flyers buy the wire by the thousand foot rolls and make their own as required. Keith V

The ones that I purchased from Brodak had to have the ends put on them. If I have to do that, I may as well buy 1000' spool and make my own. Not knocking the Brodak lines by no means, but for about 50 bucks I can make at least 8 sets of lines compare to 3 or 4 "store bought".

I think Mel Shuette and Carl Shoup can both deliver 1000 ft rolls for a bit over $30.

My first Ringmaster...with an OS .35 FP ....
I bought 70' .018's....
Fired the critter up...needled it like I had been needling my .049's (screaming lean) and flung it....

To my amazement it flew over the pit guy's head, the fence, hit various trees and the like....I thought "these GSCB guys are whimps!"...
When it finally met terra firma, I measured the lines...they were 90' or so!
I check now....
