I have no info on the Brodak 061.
However I am a big user of the Norvel Big Mig 049/061 engines, and fondly remember buying a few NIB from Norvel for $19.99! (In those cases the boxes were slightly damaged).
Now the Norvels seem to have become un-obtainium.
So what might you ask is the point (I am asking too!). At some point "normal" folks need to put out the $ to buy one. I don't see much point in a quick review from people who are too close to the development of the engine. I don't mean to be too negative here, but to my mind, the best reviews come from those who buy it themselves and can compare how they run compared to the Norvels or even Coxes.
I will also comment that there were a lot of negative comments on the Norvels--especially getting them to run the first time. I think that was their worst feature. However once they had run through their first few tanks, they became pretty user friendly. One problem I had was a propensity to really go through the glow plugs. I finally converted to a Galbreath Head and Nelson plug to try and keep the cost down. So the Norvels have plus and minuses.

When I decided to get back into 1/2A C/L flying there were few new engine choices, and the consensus seemed to be that the Norvel engines were perhaps the best bang for the buck. I already had one new Norvel .049 purchased years ago, but no spares to keep it going, if I were to use it on my new Baby Clown ARF. Went looking in the local shops here near Portland OR, and had to ask for them as they were not easy to spot in the display counters. One shop had one .061, and another .074, so I bought the .061. Price was $35 out the door.
Looking at it later, I realized the prop screw and spinner were not in the box. Went back to the shop, and the clerk found one screw and spinner pack in the parts section and stuffed it in my engine box, plus a bunch of other NIP parts for my engine. Finally had to tell her to stop, as she had thrown in over $25 in free parts (retail prices)!
Another shop had no Norvel engines on display, but a few parts that I wanted, so I bought a needle valve and a few gaskets and plugs. A few days later I went back to pick up another spare needle valve, and the owner was tending the counter. Told him I was interested in the parts, and he mentioned that he had some of the Norvel engines in the back of his nearly full display case! He brought out four new .049 engines, three C/L and one R/C version. We haggled over the price for a while, and he finally offered me all four for $25 each, and threw in two needle valve assemblies and a few other parts for $10 more!
Anyway, I now have enough engines and parts to get serious about flying again with the Norvel .049s, but would like one or two more .061s for the same reason.
Point is, if I hadn't asked about Norvel engines, I might never have found them. No doubt there a few other small hobby shops out there, that have one or two Norvel/AME engines tucked away behind the big buck engines in their display cases.

Vincent , I am using the Brodak .049's MkI with the Nelson head and glo plugs and I am happy with the results. There is big jump in power with the Nelson head and glo plugs, over 2000 RPM. With out them the Brodak .049 is a sport motor with good fuel draw . So I would imagine that the .061 should run same with more power .Should you need even more power I would look to the Nelson Head and glo plug. Do a archive search on this site for more info on the Brodak .049. Hope this helps .
