New 1/2A profile design for sport or stunt

Hi all:

I have designed a new profile stunter for people to try out. It is meant for the Norvel .049/.061 or TD type of engines and flies real well. I have plans for sale if anyone is interested in trying it out for a new sport project.

Can you give some more details? The photo looks like a sheet wing?

This is a profile design with a 1/8th inch flat airfoil sheet wing, it is designed to go together with standard sized wood. It flies fast and stable on .008 cable lines and will do the patterns without too much trouble. It will make a good intermediate 1/2A airplane that is unique.

Dick Sarpolus has been using the same format for over 10 years now and has a ton of designs available and some are even in kit form from Black Hawk Models and yes they do fly very well and do the pattern.

Thanks for your support Larry, yes there is some similarities in format and construction as I had initally researched a number of Dicks designs but others as well. In actual fact this airplane is really a result of teachings and engineering from Bill Netzeband who was more than kind in sharing with me some years of stunter design philosophy and knowledge. We exchanged emails over a period of time on the subject. I went ahead and this was the second of two examples in Control Line Airplane design as the first was a modified Sig Skyray 35 in order to test some changes in stab arrangement with suggestions that were approved by Bill. Since then the White Lightning began as a whole new design since receiving help from Bill. This example was actually built and flown by the expert craftsmanship of Warren Leadbeatter from Australia and I give him credit for making a fine example. If anything, I hope others will try my design and enjoy it as well.

I am always glad to see more designers making 1/2A kits, I hope that this will spur engine manufactures to produce more 1/2A engines and more people to fly control line. Rock On.

I did really enjoy making it and it was very hard to keep my mouth shut about it. It flies very well and I was very impressed with the manouverability of the little thing. The best sheet wing plane I've ever flown thats for sure. If anyone wants to see it, here it is

Went and watched the video, what engine was used on the plane?

Thanks Warren, I kind of thought that might be what was in the plane as it was really moving, looked good
