Fuel for Brodak 40

I just got my new B40 and in reading the included info. I see that the recomended fuel is 10% Nitro 11 1/2% Syn. and 11 1/2% Castor. The most available fuel in my area is Sig 10-10-10 Champion.

Will this work OK and if not Where is there a source for the recomended fuel?

If you're worried about it, just add a little more castor to the mix. It will add a margin of safty in case you get a lean run early in the engines life.

Red Max (FHS) will mix anything you want and mail it to your door. Look them up in MA.

Yes, but (and this has been noted before) they don't have any faith in their own castor oil. What they write about others is a lie. They apparently got a source of bad castor and blame the whole industry. I quit buying from them at that time, and since they haven't changed, I haven't changed my stance either.

There are other suppliers who will mix to your specifications, but the SIG fuel you mention should work just fine.

I don't know how long ago this incident happened, maybe you could tell us. The reason I ask I have almost four gallons of Red Max mixed to the Brodak specification run through my Brodak 40 and the engine is running very well. The runs are consistent both in performance and time and engine seems to be in very good condition. I have not seen any white flakes in any of the bottles. In fact from what I have seen Red Max is a good fuel. Just my own personal observation for what it's worth.

I don't question what you are saying about the oil, and maybe they panicked and made up the story (cyoa). I don't know, but again how long ago was this oil problem?

That (10-11½-11½) is the exact mix of PowerMaster GMA 10/23 fuel. Most any shop that carries PowerMAster at all will be happy to order a gallon or two with their next shipment.
