Tank size

well its been a long time for me...so i got a question....what size tank do i need for a full pattern run for a 35....jim

Most 35 to 40 size standard sport engines work fine with a 4 oz tank with 5 -10% fuel.

Some engines are especially thirsty, where you may need 4.5 to 5 ounces of fuel. Greenhead Torp 29S and 35 engines and Veco 35's require much more fuel than a Fox Stunt 35.

Fortunately, there are some taller, uniflow stunt tanks that are shorter than a thinner 4-oz. tank, yet carry more fuel. Unfortunately, to get the tank height right, some surgery may be required.

Something that I do is run my engines with a 6 oz clunk tank, putting in 3 or 4 oz's each time for three tanks. I'll time the run with a stopwatch and use this as an average. This works well for me......Good luck

Bud: You are right about those Greenhead 29Ss. I couldn't believe how quickly they drank fuel. I was expecting something along the lines of a Fox Stunt or McCoy Redhead. But no.

Also, on the subject of fuel consumption, anyone notice how quickly the Norvel .061 drinks fuel? You have to pay for performance.
