antique glow plugs

Does anyone remember these?

The Arden is not their first generation (that one could be rebuilt), but still before my time. The OK Glow-Trol was around when I was in my early teens. I suspect the Glow-Trol may be a very hot plug with the ceramic liner preventing heat loss to the metal body.

I have an Arden rebuildable plug somewhere in my shop as well as an OK. The OK doesnt have the lining you show here. Maybe a later edition.

I still have a box of old Arden glo plugs. They were the hot item in 1948, when we scrapped our spark ignition coils and installed the Arden glo plug and used Blue Blazer hot fuel. The plugs didn't last very long, though. So instead of tossing the dead ones in the trash can, I tossd them in my field box where they accumulated.

I'm still using Champion VG2 glo plugs, the late George Aldrich told me they were the best glo plug ever, and I agree with him, also excellant for four stroke engines.

How about the Fury with the maricle(sp) "W" element?

A 'W' element! That reminds me of a Cox glow head that I have somewhere. It has a similarly shaped element. It's the only one I've seen like that. If I can find it, I'll post a pic.

The atwood Schriek also had a "W" element.
