Anybody know if the ST 51 C/L version has the same port timing etc as the R/C version??

They are different.

The exhaust on the CL version opens at 70 BBDC and I believe the RC version opens at 74BBDC. Other than that, they're identical.
The C/L liner has a different part# than the R/C version, so for sure they're not the same.

Any idea as to where can one obtain a degree wheel usable on our engines?

Hi Mike,
I have a camshaft timing wheel that I made bushings for. It works great! (and I did it all with simple hand tools) Might have been made by Mr. Gasket or Crane......

These are the numbers I got for the Chinese ST 51
ST51CL wt.318gr. in c/l trim, no muffler
shaft open 140
shaft close 35
exh. dur. 133
fr. bypass 113
cen. bypass 104
rear bypass 112
These numbers are almost as conservative as a Fox 35.

You should be able to get a 360 deg. round protractor
from a drawing supplies store for a few bucks.
Drill the hole in the cr. undersize with a blunted drill , then ream or scrape to size.
id put a set of four scalple marks to centre the correct dia, before drilling.
easiest to read with the head of and intake out .
Does anyone have a spare 51 head with bent /broken fins to spare ?
Were looking for one to mod.
