Can someone tell me the aprox. value of an Orwick .29 glow? All original inculding the paint and has the individual motor mounts. Paint is original with a few minor scuffs. Would rate it as very good. Thinking of unloading it.

Cary. I sold a repro Orwick .23 (like new) for $250. There aren't very many 29s available, but I don't know if that makes them more valuable. Orwick 64 engines, in general, will go for $225- $300, depending on condition. Floyd in OR

Doc, I have one from my childhood that I had GMA chrome the cyl. cause I wore it out on the ball fields. Have not broken it in since he returned it. Appearance is excellent. What do you think it'll bring? Its a glo .29 or .32, can't remember which.

I'm assuming it is a 29. Anyone know how to tell the difference?

Gary. Some Orwicks, when run on glo, seemed to wear the main bearing, especially fuel without enough castor oil. Check play in main bearing carefully . I don't have an accurate estimate for 29-32 Orwicks, but the ignition version is more valuable. However $200-225 would be a good starting point.

Thanks Doc, and yes, the bearing was worn, enough so that he also chromed the crank. When oiled up and flipped, the thing feels like a ball bearing engine. Prob. should keep it . Its a 32. I took off the head and measured the B.& S.

Measuring the B&S. At the bottom of the stroke and then again at the top? Difference is the displacement?

Yes. Only one diameter measurement should do, since I doubt the cylinder bore is tapered. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't come out exactly .32 cu in. Most manufacturers simply round-off to the nearest .01 cu in.

Sounds like you have a really nice Orwick.

Thanks - now to see if it is a .29 or .32

Just had a thought....All Orwick engines have the S/N stamped on the backplate. The first 2 numbers represent the displacement! How easy!!

Mine has no number stamped. It measures .3168 Avg.of three measurements. My engine was given to me by a friend of my adult flying buddy in the early 50s . He bought it in Japan when he was part of the Occupation. Too much sentimental value. I'm keep'n it.
