You can do some amazing stuff with 3D CAD, texturing and a photo software.

Of course, I was just playing around with Pro/Desktop 8, and the "cup" is an extrusion exercise. It does a fabulous job of rendering, and it also wraps textures beautifully. The background is simply a photo of my desktop from my digital camera, to add realism.
I also made several other textures, here is a brushed chrome finish:

Actually, I'm a complete duffer and made this in about an hour, while going through a tutorial. It may not be obvious, but it is a shell out solid, that is the protusions are all hollow as well.
Eventually I hope to do some serious model airplane views with the program, the first effort is to do lofts and cross sections for the cowl, wing tips, and wheel pants on my Mo'Beast design, in prep for molding them in fiberglass.
I was just very impressed with the rendering capabilities of this program, all executing on my (8 year old, wimpy now) PC. It shows just what is possible when software is truly well written. This program is built on the "granite" kernel, a part of the big Pro/Engineer package, which does comprehensive finite analysis and modeling, with CNC interfaces, etc. (Those in the know tell me Solid Works is currently on top.)
It is also quite easy to use! Show some respect for REAL PROGRAMMERS, right?!

So, now you have no excuse. You have to build the Stealth plane. You can now model the parts.
I'm working toward it, Randy. An expert has told me he will steer me toward the proper fiberglass techniques, so all I have to deal with is coming up with fuselage cross sections to make a mold.
Unfortunately, my Stealth "design" so far has a serious flaw, as you can easily spot, which will have to get resolve:
