Has anyone heard about the availability problem with SIG Champion fuel? It's reported SIG is out of nitromethane and currently not producing any fuel containing nitro. Does anyone have any direct experience with a plug-in replacement for SIG Champion 5% in Precision Aero engines?

And just where do we get our LiPo batteries from? Seriously, I've been trying to get a ThunderPower 3S-1320mAH ProLite pack for over a month.
What the earthquake in China didn't wreck (or the subsequent floods), they have shut down lots of industries to clean the air prior to the Olympic games. Los Angeles did the same thing for the '84 Olympics.

I would suggest mixing Powermaster R/C (18% oil) 5% and 10% to get 7 1/2%, and don't worry about it any more.

#5 sourceGot the same story a year or so ago from a local hobby shop... turned out they just did not want to order from Sig as they were getting a better deal on Cool Power.... So I changed hobby shops.

Well, when you order fuel, the dealer has to order large quantities--perhaps ten cases or more--to make it pay out. And a lot of RC boys want the Cool Power (cheap, low oil content), so it may not be entirely the dealer's choice.
Trouble is, this is now SIG telling the story. They may have a small quantity left that they will sell retail, but we had 14 cases ordered for Matt and they said they cannot deliver. The problem is...Nitro. There is apparently a world-wide shortage of Nitromethane. I just talked to Randy Rich of Rich's Brew yesterday and he told me the same thing (about the shortage). There is only one manufacturer of nitro here in the US these days, and only certain places where the US will let us import it from. China is one of the places and they have reportedly shut down the facility until after the Olympics. I think this is where the crunch is coming from.
Now a shortage is a shortage, not a complete vacuum. Some suppliers have adequate quantities, at least for the moment, although the price will undoubtedly go up (along with gasoline and everything else). SIG may have a small amount and is limiting their sales to dealers while reserving what they do have for the retail market.
It might be good to make sure you have fuel when you go to the Nats and not rely upon the local hobby shop to supply your fuel needs when you arrive. He may not be able to.
