COMPARE OS LA-S 46 TO ST 51s

What are the pros and cons of each. BTW, the ST 51 is the Italian stunt vesion and the OS 46 is a Byron Barker rework. The specs show the LA at 1.2HP and the ST at .94HP. I had always thought the twin ball bearing ST 51s was the stronger. Is it all in the torque?

The LA probably makes the 1.2 HP up in a higher rpm range than what you would use it for stunt. I would say the ST is definitely the stonger stunt engine..

La, low pitch props....ST, higher pitch props. Both work well.

The ST will spin a bigger prop than the LA will. My .51 just grunts along at about 8,000 RPM spinning a 12-5.2 Bolly 3 Blade. I havn't run my LA .46 yet but expect it to do well with an 12 - 4.5 APC 2 Blade.
My ST.51 easily pulls my 62 Ounce Shark 45 around in a full 4 stroke only breaking to a two cycle at the tops of maneuvers. I'm sure my LA .46 could not duplicate that feat. I would say that the LA .46 will pull around up to 640 Square Inches well. My ST .51 has easily pulled around 700 Square Inches. These are approximations, not exacting in any way.

A G-51 can take all the fingers of one hand simultaneously,
where a OS 46 LA will do it one by one.

Seriously !? a G-51 is a 1.6 H.P. engine low timed on the sleeve
to pull the PEAK down to 11.000 from 16.000 .

Put a 10 x 4 three blade Tornado on one and youll see what I mean..

Actually sounds similar to the car when I ran out of fuel and put
some glow fuel in the tank. It DID fire but I didnt persist as it sounded as if the cylinder head was trying to lift about 2 feet.
and the bonnet was in the way. So we put the prop on an Irvine .40
next time.

Thou I think you might be asking about the 'V' - 51 . ?
