Trailing edge swept forward a LOT! And looks like just one flap horn. Could be a terrific bind in the making!

Normally you would be correct, but then there're those great little things called "Lucky Box's". They really work smooth. i used them in my Anhedral stab All American Eagle. Smoooooooth.

Just for a FYI, the original Sterling kit only had one flap horn and no Lucky Box's.

I'm wondering why everything is spinning around?

That's no jive. I didn't know about those 'til someone suggested them for the dihedral'd stab/elev on a little 1/2A Twin I'm building for October's profile scale meet. Thanx to advice from two local gents (who names happen to be on the Walker Cup), I learned something new: Lucky Boxes work like a charm.

Walt, while looking at your web site I noticed the JB Special by John Miller. Are you going to be kitting this or will it be John? One cool looking model. Has anyone built a prototype? I may be interested

A question please.

This is the first time I've seen the "lucky boxes" used, is the slot in the lucky box assembly larger that the O.D. of the control horn wire please?

Thanks, Ken Wilson

Ken,
The slot for the control horns in "Lucky Boxes" should be a "snug fit" on the control horn wire. This allows the very small amount of movement necessary to keep the controls from binding without allowing any up and down slop in the flaps (up and down slop is "deadly").
However I would add that looking at the plans I'm not sure lucky boxes are even necessary on this Spitfire. With this amount of sweep unless there is dihedral also the "boxes" are not necessary as long as the control horn is straight across the center of the wing and the ends are normal to the trailing edge.
