Cox Tee Dee .049/.051 crankcase mystery

I have two TD .049 and one TD 0.051. One of the 0.049 crankcases is stamped with a number "2" on one of the mounting flanges. I was under the impression that the 0.049 and the 0.051 shared the same crankcase. Does anyone know why one of the crankcases is stamped "2"? Did Cox make different crankcases?
