Here's a little Mustang I just finished. I'd been wanting to build a Dick Sarpolus 1/2a model for years and when I finally sat down to do it I decided to build a Sarpolus inspired Mustang instead. I had plans from an old Guillows Mustang kit and when I looked at them I realized they were about the right size. I traced the outline from the plans and then enlarged the wing chord a bit, as well as the stabilizer span. I shortened the nose a smidge. It's got a Brodak .049 MK II on the nose and I'm hoping to fly it in the next couple of days. 28" wingspan, 7.7 ounces, Rustoleum paint. If the Brodak isn't enough I've got a Norvel that could go up front.

I have two Mustangs. One is ready for finish and the other one I have been flying for about 5 or 6 years.

I think the Mustang is one of the coolest looking planes out there.

This Mustang I had to cut out the wing because of the foam in it was 30 years old and warped. I built a new wing and slid it in. Now I got the wing in there and is ready for paint. The plane has a nobler wing and chipmunk moments in it. This plane is going to be powered by an Enya .35

This Mustang I am going to refurbish this winter. I put some type of clear on it and it didn't adhear so it turned yellow. Also its got the usual dings and dents in it. This one has a stretched out Chipmunk wing with my own moments in it. This one is powered by an ST .46

what size tank are you using?...that looks like you'll have about 30 min. of flight time!

It's supposedly a 1 ounce tank. I just got back from flying it. It wasn't 30 minutes but it was definitly longer than what I get out of a Babe Bee. The engine gave me more power than I thought I would get, but I think I had it set a little too lean. It ran very strong but when I did a loop it almost died. I did mostly level flight with a few wingovers. Towards the end of the run it was leaning out too much and I was losing power. I was afraid of damaging the engine so I bellied it in to end the flight, which loosened the stab, so that was it for testing. I can't wait to try it again with the engine set right.
Sorry to ramble on. There are no other C/L flyers in my area that I'm aware of, so I don't have anyone else to share this stuff with.

Set the needle valve about 1/4 turn rich from where you were flying it. This should give plenty of power without dying in maneuvers.

Been there done that, keep on flying in public places you'll meet one or two more people in all probability.

BLACK HAWK

Kit three months out. needs to be modified a little more. Tail, wings and air scoop but it will look like a P-51D

Yes, it's true: the Mustang is one of the most beautiful airplanes ever created. The designer must have been not only an engineer, but also an artist. No wonder this airplane is modeled so often.
I have built my own two versions. If you look at this site you'll see more details about my 35 size version. http://www.clacro.de/Seite_mustang.htm
If anybody is interested, a plan is available.

Not 1/2 A but still lotsa fun! Designed for 9-14yr olds in our "Young Aviators Academy" summer program. These are a couple of the kid's airplanes. (Built and flown in less than a week by 9-14 yr olds!)

LOTS 'N LOTS of Mustangs! Most everyone has built one or more.

Mine is sort of a RSM kit, but bashed somewhat. It has RETRACTS!(that really work). Power was an old ST56, but now is a OS46VX.

Retract setup is the same that Whitley used a few years ago.

Hello...
This is the mustang/strega of my pilot and mine.
It is a racing model.
Here in spain, call the 30 races, closely resembling those races foxberg in USA.
Greetings
