Thanks Sig for a great weekend

The weather was typical Iowa in June, moments of great air and moments of shear terror. No rain, a great turnout and plenty of FUN.
Thank you Sig and hope to be there again next year.

Yes a great time.
Thanks to the Sig folk for their hospitality. The Sound and Light show most evenings (along with a little wind machine, always makes for fun camping.
Only issue this year was the "gNats weather"--oh no, I almost forgot that I witnessed the day that OId Time died.

I have to tack an "amen" onto this. It was great fun as always.

Hi All
First of all, I want to thank so much every one who helped us so much this weekend at the Sig Contest... Mike and Doris Gretz rescued our stuff from the motel, Melvin and Brenda Schuette, Ron Poley and Maggie got my airplane stuff found and in various vehicles, Dan McEntee did a bit of 'follow that ambulance', after Keith Sandberg smacked my very hard head with a brick and said GO to the hospital!!!
The upshot is.... I felt weak, sat down and passed out.... The ambulance was called, I finally consented to go to the hospital... I was dehydrated and in atrial fibrillation(sp)... which means I had an irregular heartbeat. It wouldn't get back on track so they let me transfer to a hospital here in Topeka and see a cardioligist here...
Melvin, Brenda, Ron and Maggie organized a caravan and got all of us and 'stuff' to Topeka in fine shape!!
Did a stress test and echocardiogram (sp) this morning and the doc said it all looked good... So, I finally got home midafternoon today (monday).... back to work on wed....
Apparantly base cause was dehydration which caused the ol ticker to not tick right...
So, Every one, Drink a lot of water!!!!!!
And Thanks again to Everyone for their help and good thoughts!!

I am sure that Mike Gretz will get the scores posted as soon as the dust settles. I have a few pictures, again mainly of my crew, but you will get to see some of what happened there.

It was another great year out in Montezuma. Hard to believe that Grace was about 2 months old the first time I went out there. Thanks to Mike and the entire Sig Crew for their continued support and to Hazel and Maxey for letting us play in their yard.

Hi John, Knew you would have the kids flying stunt eventually.Now they know, "The pattern changes everything" Go Red wings! Oh the Parisites, good one. Hope to see you all in Cleveland later. How is Frank C. doing lately?

They are catching on to flying Stunt. I think that Grace prefers racing and now that Michael has tried it, I am sure that I will get plenty of pitting opportunities. Sure hope they never go up against each other...

Frank has been keeping himself busy with his Perky, Vector and a couple of other builds. Rumor is that he even gets out to fly now and then. I am hoping to get him up to Flint later in the week to look over the circles and do a little flying.

Wherever I go, the Parisites follow. Now if I could get them to pitch in for gas and food......

Fantastic weekend! I missed the last 3. I could not let that happen this year. The commeraderie makes SIG weekend the best regardless of the weather, wind or gNATS.

Melvin reports, "we got Jim Lee back into Topeka without a problem. In fact it was the fastest we ever made it home, we only stope once the entire trip and made it here is 5 hours. I am sure that you will get progress reports once we hear more."

Had a great time as usual, and I already have my calendar marked for next year.
THANKS TO ALL involved in putting on and running this very enjoyable event!!!

It was around 1:30 PM on a Friday afternoon. As I was tooling down I-80 doing about 10-over the limit, my little convertible was "blown-past" by a suspicious, gray van with Michigander plates.

And, it was just before 2:00 PM, as I careened into Hazel's driveway. (No, someone else must have played "tag" with her mailbox.) Just ahead of me was the dreaded, "Paris-ites" team.

I think everybody should thank the gnats that flew into our nostrils, throats, ears, etc. Remember, they could have been mosquitos!

I think someone missed thanking Bob Nelson and Becky Van Dee from Sig, who heard enough of my feeble attempts at levity, to last at least until next year.

Did everyone see Bob's fast-combat style take-off stooge? Thanks to Bob, for letting me "crash-test" his electric Skyray and e-Force. (I was able to fly the entire pattern in less than the 4.5 minute timed flight, by juxtaposing just one lap between maneuvers.)

There was a slew of unmentioned volunteers at the combat circles, starting with Scott Fawley, Pete Mazur, Melvin Schuette, and a couple of newer guys (one was "Dave") from the Des Moines area. (I'm sure I missed a few.)

I made sure I said "thanks" to Hazel and Maxey. (That was their airfield into which I was punching holes.)

By the way, did all of you see the recent newspaper article on Hazel in the Des Moines Sunday paper?

Thanks to all of you for helping make this great institution another great contest!

There are so many great people in this hobby, and all would have done the same if they could have gotten in line in time to do so. Such a neat hobby.

Come on now Bud I only had the cruise set at 70 mph or perhaps a hair under, so the blown past thing must be an exaggeration... I will admit that it is pretty cool to be going down the road towards a contest and see some airplane tails through the rear window of a car in front of you. When we got close enough I told the kids that it was you and they waved. It took a little while before you looked over (yummy Arby's samitch I suppose) but you finally did. Always nice to see people you know on the road. I saw a number of them pass me on the way out-Alan and Roger, Art and a few others.

Not sure who got the mailbox as it wasn't us this time.

The Parisites and I look forward to the fun next year.
