Unfortunate turn of events

To all:

I got this from Orestes today. This is very unfortunate if it turns out to be for real. I have offered help, but my stuff is very different than those that are effected.

Dear Orestes.

Philippe Gauthier from France have call me with the bad news that this weekend on the competition in Italy, on the security parking of the hotel, in the night, was opened the cars of Philippe, Carles Mas from Spain, and Gilbert Beringer from France, was stolen all planes with the starting boxes. 2 Sharks (Alex Gauthier, Carles Mas) and Yak of Philippe was lost.

Also the models of Beringer. All best models of west Europe.

Philippe see the concurence, because Alexander Gauthier the son of Philippe, have bought the Shark, and had realy possibility to be the World Champion, but Italian junior have this possibility too with my model.

That is why be carefull please.

Man, I don't get this kind of thing. I mean, what would you do with it? It's not like you could fly any of them without every control line flyer in the area knowing you're a thief.

So sorry to hear about this. I hate theives! I doubt that the crooks even know that what they stole arn't R/C models.

A very sad incident indeed. I can only recommend one thing and that is very strong publication on all available internet-sites with fotos of the models, photos on local police offices, even small articles on local newspapers.

A year ago my small Classic plane (P-39 Airacobra) was stolen in an exhibition. It was returned to the police 2 months later without damage. I don't know whaht influence had the strong support of all publications on internet-sites in Germany, France and Spain but let's assume it did have an effect and yes, it helped.

It would be good if an adress in Italy were offered where those models could be returned anonymously.

I wish Philippe, Carles and Alexandre good luck but most importantly the strength to quickly forget this bad news, take out the old models and prepare for the World Champs. I am sure your anger and dedication will pay out in points. Heads up to you three! See you in Landres!

Very sad indeed. A small correction; only Gauthier's planes (Shark and Yak) were stolen. They broke into Mas's and Beringer's cars but at least their models were not taken.

I swear theives are bastards! I always want to leave my plane in my car so I can just get up and go. But I cant because I know some jack-a$$ is going to think they can just take what they want. I hope someone finds those guys and beats the crap out of them.

I like to imagine them in the Emergency Room at a small hospital trying to explain how a 3 blade carbon fiber prop got stuck up their rear vent!

Its pretty much common knowledge that people do not steal something
they have a need of or longing for.
They usually steal just to be stealing or to support a habit.
It has been said that less than one percent of the people that steal food
do so because they are hungry.
If you caught the thieves and gave them a much needed whipping, you would be in bigger trouble than they would be.
Back in the day ---- my dad went to a one room school house.
A kid ,big for his age got after the teacher (male) and invited him
outside . The teacher went outside and gave the kid a whipping.
The kid went home and told his dad.
The dad went to the school house and called out the teacher.
The teacher went outside and whipped the dad also.
Those were the days

This is why I left the security locks on the used van I bought. I use then when I travel with the models.

Where I live there are kids who roam the neighborhoods late at night, mostly in the summer. They check door locks on cars. If you leave it open they take what the want or just leave it all over the street. I came out one morning last summer and mife's van had been gone through. They took the CDs my kids, 1.5 and 3.5 years old at the time, love and threw them on the gorund a broke them. If they didnt want them they could have just left them alone. Now if you have something unusual in your car and the roamers notice it you can expect a broken window. I have lived in this neighborhood most of my life. I have my car gone through or borken into about 10-12 times over the years. If for some reason your foget to lock your car all your stuff is gone or ruined. It pisses me off to no end. I have a freind who caught two highschool kids throwing bricks through car windows. Driving down the street just chunking bricks. My truck was a victim the summer before for the same thing cost $1700 to fix it. He chased them in his truck and the kids wrecked into a light pole. They were arrested. There has never been a rash of brick throwing in the area again. This roaming has been an ongoing problem since there were large number of apts integrated into the area. Now some are being torn down and I have noticed a larger reduction in the number of roamers. Coincedence? I think not.

Our neighborhoos assoc. did hire an off duty cop to drive the area at nights on weekends. This has made a huge difference in who you see out late at night on the streets in our area. Just one cop car on the move and it makes such a difference.

You can see my history gives me no compassion for such people. NONE I dont care where they live or what their habit is, stealing is low. It is slimy low and cant be tolerated!

Stealing is always done by people that do not give a crap about anyone else.

I consider this a serious thought to ponder.

You have hit the nail on the head. Unless you follow the rules to the letter any trophy won is stolen. I plan someday to out the cheaters I know. You can bet your butt they will not sleep well from now on.

I never told my Dad about any problems that I caused, because then there would be punishment from him also. He always seem to find out anyway.

That one really hurt!! They can't sell it. More than likely, they don't even know what the heck it is!! They are stealing someones hard work, imagination, and craftmanship.

I witnessed the mentality of the people who do such things.

When I was working in Palestine, TX at the National Scientific Balloon Facility a few years back, a group of high school students "toured" the facility, and watched as we observed instrumentation data from a balloon over Antarctica.

They all seemed interested and attentive, but as soon as they left, one guy noticed that his Nikon camera was missing. And I noticed that the keys to my rental car were gone.

The camera never reappeared, and I missed my flight because of the missing keys, which were found the next day, dropped into the commode on the first floor restroom..

I was somewhat upset, but the camera's owner was livid. It's a good thing the class had gone, because some butts would have been kicked, on the spot.

I thought I heard that one of our top twenty pilots, many moons ago, had their rented U-Haul trailer stolen from a motel parking lot. Man, they took trailer and all.

Kind a case for Colombo or maybe Monk or CSI.

This is nothing new, only more of it now due to the terrible overpopulation and generations raised irresponsibly and without morals. The man who introduced me to C/L Stunt, Duane Sanders Barberton Ohio, had his stunter stolen from the back seat of his locked car at a restaurant stop on the way back from the 56 Nats. In the beginning when I won anything I know I did my best. I was proud. 3rd place on your own merits is far better in first place cheating. I sleep better at night. I am sure that in the group that read this there are some that do not, or probably do not care.

Hello friends,

As it has been pointed by Lauri, the stolen models are two: Philipe Gaulthier's YAK-55 and Alexander Gaulthier's SHARK. Beringer car was forced but models were not taken and also was my car but the model was in the room.

Enclosed are two pics of the stolen models to have them in mind in case someone intends to put them up for sale. For this, it also will be appreciate give maximum diffusion of this issue among the community.

They are probably hanging up in some restaurant somewhere with the other stolen or overweight models. Thats a shame.
