Scimitar 520 balance

Just finishing up my first scratch built - Allen Brickhaus Scimitar 520 (FM May2006)- Batteries died in my electronic scale so can't tell you the finish weight yet.
I measured my CG to be 3 1/2" behind the LE at wing root- but upon
reviewing the magazine article & plans - CG position not shown. Any one else flown this design that can advise? Pictures to follow soon.

Place it about an eighth of an inch in front of the high point of the airfoil. Begin with about one ounce of tip weight and adjust after flying. Hang the Scimitar by its leadouts and the nose should be down about three degrees compared to the tail. What engine have you chosen to use?

I'm setup with B40. Will start with Stock B muffler with extra drilled out holes in tail cone. Other muffler options include tounge or Scott's Hyflo tube setup. Will prop with Thunder Tigre 11"-4.5".
Uniflo 4.5oz metal tank, running Powermaster 10-22 with Sonic tronic plug.
Eagerly looking forward to first flight soon as there is a break in heat and humidity. I'll setup balance and leadouts are per your advice. Planning to start with 60' 0.015 lines.

You might want to think of using a tongue type muffler at a slightly later date. I used the tongue muffler on my ARC Smoothie and was quite happy with the run.

Which nose length did you choose to use (inches from the back of the spinner to the leading edge of the wing)?

First flight July 4th at the Avon Conn R/C club field. The club has decided to permit C/L activity and we have one grass circle that is available. Thanks to help from Peter Hess - Scimitar flew 4 flights - Weight is 51 oz with 1 1/2 oz tip weight and B40 stock muffler. B40 on 60ft lines giving approx 5.2 sec lap time with ThunderTigre 11-4.5 and Powermaster 10/22, B muffler with drilled out tail cone. Looking fwd to more trimming flights to eliminate a "bobble" on wing over pull out. Maybe less tip weight? ( now 1.5oz might be a little to much) and the CG (might need to move up by 1/8")or lead out slider position. Pics below.
