Evolution 36#0 source
I want one! Mine has been on order since about 300 B.E. (B.E. =Before Evolution) Now the website says mid-July is the expected availability date. Oh, woe! When is my first Evolution 36 ever going to arrive?

I'm waiting for one too, but if you really want a good motor sooner, get a Magnum 36. They need very little in the way of fiddling to get an excellent run. Basically just select the right size venturi to match the prop/plane/fuel. The Magnum only weighs 8.5 oz. with a CL venturi and NVA.

Already have a Magnum 32 with timing modified for stunt by Tom Dixon, a Randy Smith venturi, an O.S. NVA. and a Big Art tongue muffler. It is mounted on a Sig Skyray 35. Love the way it runs. Also have a Magnum 36 prepped the same way on the shelf waiting for another project. Both are really nice engines.
But I had to have them reworked. And I had to shell out extra cash for the tongue muffler, venturi and NVA.
The Evolution 36 comes with C/L timing and C/L parts. No need to send it anywhere for modification.
Besides, I am kind of an engine nut. I just have to try something new, even if I don't really need it.

I got a Magnum 32 since I didn't wait long enough for the 36. It was a screamer and totally unsuited for stunt. After reading PGranderson's article I got a Magnum 36. Total modification consisted of having a bushing turned so I could fit an LA 40 carb on it. Adjusted the carb for a nice speed on an 11/4 prop and it runs like a top. I might have added a gasket, I can't remember. The stock muffler weighs 65 grams and works fine. All up weight is about 310 gr(10.9oz) which is pretty light overall.

the 36 piston and liner drop into the 36 case, so I converted the 32 to a 36 also. Kind of in line with Randy Smith's observations. Big bore, short stroke works better for stunt. The 36 appears to use the exact same port machining as the 32(an exhaust port is .280 wide on both liners) so the ports are proportionately quite a bit smaller on the 36. The main bypasses are already higher than the boost port.

Dittos chanlau1. Put mine on order in March and am starting to feel like that ol' mule plodding ever forward after the carrot hung in front of it's nose. Addiction can be a real drag!

Better to have it and not need it than it is to need it and not have it.
