Great Lakes Trainer

Is the OTS GREAT LAKES MODEL ADVANCE TRAINER, 47-1/2" wingspan, a single wing or a bi-wing model please?

Might anyone know where a photo of this model might be found please?

Unless you are looking for the Great Lakes Trainer put out in Erie, PA in the late '40s by Herman Lawrence. I think it was put out by Lake Erie Model Co. Can't find my plans or mag ad but will check it out.

The picture that Pat put up above is of a real plane called the Great Lakes Trainer. That, indeed, is a bi-plane.

The plan I have that is Old Time legal was put out by Great Lake Models of Erie, Penn. It is a class "C" stunt trainer and is a rather simple to build monoplane. The fuselage is flat sided, flat sheeted top and bottom. The wing structure reminds me a bit of the old Free flight structure. It has a 1/4 inch square leading edge, two deep spars, and a trailing edge. No sheeting of the leading edge which became the "norm" later on.

It has good area and such and would be an interesting plane to bring to VSC, but would probably not be as capable as some of those that seem to be in the winner's circle over the years.
