Trostle wins Nats OTS and Classic

I'll have complete scores and placings here upon return next week, but for now can say that two hours ago OTS & Classic ended. Keith Trostle won both....but not without some effort. (Details later.) Jim Lynch was a very close 2nd in Classic.

Allen Brickhaus copied results of 1st thru 10th, both events, and may have that info on Tuesday's "Nats Report" (see AMA web site).

Weather was perfect except for a few stiff breezes around mid-day. Total entries were 23 in OTS and 24 in Classic.

CLPA begins tomorrow. I'm judging all week, so may not have time to post much news.

Good point, Tom. Not quite so obvious is the value (despite often commented upon shortcomings for many of us) of having the centrally located site from a population perspective. Gas is expensive but if you've got a huge percentage of the nation's population with a couple, three tanks of gas of your location, it isn't insurmountable.

A huge pat on the back to my buddy, Keith Trostle. Add a Walker Cup to that collection and it'll be worth the trip, huh, Kernel!

Also, kudos to P"20"Pointer TG. One can only tremble at the thought of the fallout from having the front row populated for two years in a row solely by ... gasp, gasp ... combat critters.

Alas, the sweep is not to be. He was second on the circle yesterday (ahead of several notables) but for whatever reason they weren't buying what he was selling today.

TPG had a problem this morning with a minor pull test incident that slightly screwed up his neutral and had a bad flight, but came back later with a flight only a point or so behind the circle leader (Derek) when comparing second-round scores - very solidly qualified.

We've simply let them develop a false sense of security. It's all part of our plan to let them think this stuff is easy. When they relax, we'll pounce!

The scary thing is that Howard and Phil have done it in two completely different ways. Howard does everything Paul W. tells him to do and Phil listens to Fitzgerald, Buck, Fancher ,etc. nods sagely -- and then does everything the exact opposite.

It just goes to show you that real "modelers" can apply their talents in a variety of ways that appeal to them and excel at the highest levels. Kudos to Howard and PTG for proving once again that modeling is more than buying and flying.

Seams like we needed a picture of him and the plane. So what about OTS he won with the big job Right ? Any infomation like engine prop size fuel glow plug handle he uses . Who knows more ?
