Larry Barickman Passes

I would like to report that Larry Barickman passed on Wednesday July 9th. Larry was a big part of control line flying in Orlando for many years. He was a PAMPA member many years and also an officer. Larry had sme health problems in the passed.
Larry, you will be missed.

Larry was indeed a fine ambassador for stunt. He will be missed by many. He was a quiet but very effective Vice President for PAMPA for several terms.

Rest in Peace, Larry. Heaven should have stunt heaven weather year round.

I have Larry's old Intrepid/Moki.51 hanging in my shop.
It has taken on a special meaning to me now.
May he rest in peace.

Larry was a legendary flier around here in the early seventies at the basin in so Ca. My brother ,father and I would marvel at his off power loops and eights . He was a great flier ,arguably the best I ever saw and a huge reason I got into stunt. The first I ever saw full cockpit stunt-er wheel pants I beam job. I thought it was a Continental at the time. Later I had the honer to actually talk to him and tell him what a great influence he was to me. He was flying a modified Glaidiator and had no idea he had left such a great impression. It had a T&L McCoy 40 in it that ran so slow and graceful . I will never forget the magical flights as a kid that held us breathless and amazed forever in my mind. God Bless You Larry God's speed

Larry was sincere and dedicated. I talked with him several months ago regarding Roger Barrett's passing. He'll be flying with all those great C/L flyers who have gone on before him. God speed to you Larry.

In the 1970s I had the pleasure of knowing both Roger Barrett and Larry Barickman.

In the mid/late '90s Larry reluctantly accepted the post of PAMPA VP when I was Prez. He was a far more level-headed and calm administrator than I...especially when I made a wrong decision which I regret to this day.

He was a nice man and will be missed.

I knew him well, enjoyed his company, respected his modeling and I will miss him.

Larry lived in CA back in the 60s and 70s. I knew he and I would get along well because the first time I met him: "he was down on his knees lighting a cigarette WITH A GLOW PLUG, because he was out of matches". From that point on, Larry and I constantly PRANKED Warden, Whitely, Kaplopski, and anyone else who looked TOO SERIOUS. Larry was also involved with Muscle Car Corvettes. He was "one of a kind", and will be missed by us all. Tom Lay

Hey, Layster...how's it going these days?

I first met Larry B. at the old Datsun building field in Gardena, c.1976. Having just returned to CL from a long association with FF, I entered Beginner at a contest there. After my first feeble attempt to impress the judges (who, by the way, were Whitely and "Kaplopski"), Larry came over and suggested that I open up all maneuvers a bit and try to hit the same bottom height every time.

Long story short: I followed his advice and won Beginner. (Full disclosure: there was only one other guy in it.) But I'll never forget the kindness shown to a new guy by a total stranger that day.

And that's one reason I asked him to be PAMPA VP twenty years later. He was a good guy.
