Anything new in Nats reports/pics?

Heard from someone that Paul Walker lost his new electric ship in a bird strike.

Anyone else hear anything to this effect?

Yep, Paul lost his super ImpactXLE to a bird strike a week before he was to leave for the Nats. He is taking the 2006, IC powered Impact to the Worlds. While I doubt he's losing much flying what is a great airplane, it's a shame he won't be able to fly the super consistent electric version.

I see it now!

A couple of our fellows here in Sydney have had major bird strikes over the years. Seems most of them come from the Kuring gai (KMFC) club where Jeff Reeves flys.

The first one was Denis O'Dell who met with Bob Hunt back in the 70s and was a Genisis lover. He hit a Kookaburra, quite a solid bird, which totalled a fair bit of the LE of the inboard wing, however, the Kookaburra shook himself and flew away much to Denis' disgust

I seem to also remember that someone else at the same club hit a Galah, another solid medium size bird and stupid to boot! Not sure if it survived the model hit or the flyers rage!

Hope Paul does well with the old model.

Well when I read his post, there seems to be some uncertainty about a bird strike since none was seen (or carcass found afterwards).

Almost sounds like an angry glow god smiting the new electric upstart!

In any case, he (Paul) sounds a lot calmer than I think I would be at that stage!

Talking about bird strikes, a funny story developed here in Brazil.

This bird comes fast and low and waaammooo! hits a plane, the bird falls knocked out to one side and the plane wobbles and safely lands to the other side. A veterinarian near by, takes the knocked out bird to his home, gives the necessary care and leaves the bird sleeping in the birdcage. The next morning the bird wakes up.."oh my god!! oh my god!!! what happened where am I" he looks around confused trying to figure out what had happened and notice all the bars.... "shiiiiiiiiiíííttt I killed the pilot!"
