My grandson has seen my planes on the forum and now he wants his Smoothie on.

This Smoothie, he bought with his own money and built it. The plane weighs 43 ounces and has a Brodak .40 for power. I flew the plane and it flies very nice especially on the outsides

My Grandson (Matthew) saw Mike Ostella's Smoothie with wheel pants on it and he wanted his Smoothie with wheel pants.

Matthew is in intermediate competition and flew well at Flushing on Memorial Day Weekend since he didn't know two maneuvers yet, The Hourglass and the Four-leaf. Now he knows those two maneuvers and is flying well.

Don,

Your grandson's Smoothie looks good! Better yet is the fact that your grandson is so interested at his age and is doing so well. With your encouragement he should continue having fun and improving rapidly. I remember at his age that I had a couple of mentors and the interest has continued for the remainder of my life and shows no signs of going away.

Don,
You have every right to be proud of your grandson Matthew and his accomplishments. He looks like a fine young man who is having fun both building and flying. Its even more impressive considering he bought it with his own money and did such a fine job building it. I'm sure grandpa is enjoying the time spent with Matthew sharing this fine hobby.

Tell your grandson the Smoothie looks better than my planes. Glad to hear he can do the whole pattern. Is he going to be our next Junior Champion. If he can do the whole pattern come and let him fly in Intermedidate at the start of NATS week. Remember to not yell at him if he messes up. If we don't make mistakes, we don't learn anything. Have fun,
DOC Holliday

Matthew is having lots of fun in this sport/hobby. We are going to go to Lee, MA for Bill Hummel's meet there (August 16-17). There, Matthew is going to fly my Black Tiger in Old Time Stunt and fly his Smoothie in classic and CLPA.

We are thinking about going to the NATS next year and he wants to go because he is going to build USA-1 (modified with a D-tube wing) with an OPS .40 on a pipe.

Hi, Don, looking forward to seeing you and Matthew at Lee next month. His flying is coming along very well, no doubt due to his desire and his COACH! Keep up the good work!

Thanks Bill. Matthew and I are looking forward to your meet this year too.

Matthew is in Long Island this week visiting his other grandparents.
